Hexham CLP Campaigns

There are two strands to Labour’s campaigning in the constituency.

On the one hand is the work we do to win elections on behalf of Labour. This ranges from local elections for places on the county council and some town councils to the all important Westminster general election. In the past we have campaigned to win seats in the European parliament and to elect a police and crime commissioner. Amongst other things this involves organising and supporting candidates, canvassing and leafleting households and talking with the public in meetings, at street stalls and through social media about Labour’s views and policies. This is an important part of electioneering and occurs all the year round and not just at election time. We try to build detailed profiles of the way different areas and localities in the constituency are likely to vote and the issues that preoccupy people. This helps us in encouraging people to vote Labour at election time.

In addition to this, Hexham Labour plays a prominent role in developing and organising campaigns around social and economic issues. These include things important to people living in the constituency such as housing, health, education, poverty, transport, employment and support for trade unionists. These campaigns involve a lot of activity from attending meetings to writing leaflets and reports, distributing posters and flyers or raising awareness through social media.

All Labour party members and supporters are welcome to help out with our campaigns.
